The year of 2014 brought us many great moments in University of Illinois Springfield Athletics. To close out the year, the Prairie Stars will count down the top 14 moments of 2014. Events will range from academic successes, winning games and highlighting individual accomplishments.
#9 - Baseball Earns First GLVC Tournament Berth; Best Season Ever2014 was a ground-breaking season for UIS baseball in more ways than one. The team played its home games on campus for the first time in its four-year history and put together its best season ever. The Prairie Stars finished near the top of the conference in almost every hitting category on their way to breaking a dozen school records.
Baseball was the only UIS team with a winning record in 2013-14, going 28-24 overall and 18-18 in GLVC play. At the end of the season, the Prairie Stars earned their first-ever GLVC tournament berth as the #8 seed.
Three players garnered all-conference recognition from the GLVC for their performances in the 2014 seasons. 2013-14 UIS Male Athlete of the Year
Jared Massengill was first-team All-GLVC, while
Adam Unes and
Logan Frye were named to the second team.
