#6 - SAAC Raises More than $3,000 for Make-A-Wish

The year of 2014 brought us many great moments in University of Illinois Springfield Athletics. To close out the year, the Prairie Stars will count down the top 14 moments of 2014. Events will range from academic successes, winning games and highlighting individual accomplishments. Countdown will be in chronological order beginning back in the start of 2014.

#6 - SAAC Raises More than $3,000 for Make-A-Wish

The UIS Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) set an record with $3,000 raised for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. It was the most money the SAAC has raised since joining the NCAA ranks. Much in part to a successful inaugural dodgeball tournament where the Prairie Stars were able to raise $1,700.

In addition to money, our student-athletes put forth more than 1,900 hours of community service and gave time to over 25 organizations. Softball was tagged with the team community service award after averaging 26 hours per player.

Already this year, UIS student-athletes have given more than 500 hours of service to various organizations in the Springfield community.
