#8 - STARS Club Reaches New Heights

The year of 2014 brought us many great moments in University of Illinois Springfield Athletics. To close out the year, the Prairie Stars will count down the top 14 moments of 2014. Events will range from academic successes, winning games and highlighting individual accomplishments. Countdown will be in chronological order beginning back in the start of 2014.

#8 - STARS Club Reaches New Heights
In just its second year, the STARS Club reached record numbers and raised the more than $50,000 for the UIS Department of Athletics. At the completion of fiscal year 2014, the department had a record-setting 392 members and raised nearly $60,000.

The fundraising arm of the department had several other firsts as well. UIS hosted its STARS Club Golf Outing on May 19, 2014 - an event that will become an annual one and is being held May 4, 2015. The baseball program raised money by hosting the First Pitch Banquet featuring speaker Courtney Hawkins and the men's basketball team had their first-ever Tip Off Club event.

Bank of Springfield helped the Prairie Stars bring baseball on campus with funding to install a new scoreboard for baseball.

UIS started a new initiative with the SPI Tour last year which has now transformed into the STARS Club Caravan.

Fundraising for 2014-15 is on track to surpass the 392 members and is on pace to pass the money raised last year.
