Tennis coach Giacomini joined SSU/UIS in 1991 and brought the women's tennis program to new heights, reaching the NAIA National Tournament in eight seasons.

Giacomini coached 23 academic scholar athletes and one all-American in SSU/UIS Hall of Famer Carla Jimenez. He racked up 177 wins in 15 seasons and eight NAIA regional titles.

Giacomini began coaching tennis in 1978 at Ursuline Academy where he led the team to three state tournaments in five years. He then spent seven seasons at Lincoln Land Community College before coming to SSU/UIS.
