Carla Jimenez Mills finished her two-year career as the most successful tennis player in the history of UIS and SSU tennis. Competing at the No. 1 position in both singles and doubles, Jimenez compiled a 45-1 singles record in her two seasons. Her only loss was in the third round of the 1999 NAIA National Tournament to the No. 2 player in the nation. In her junior season she was ranked as high as No. 28 in the nation in singles and No. 20 in doubles.
Her senior year, she paired up with Jennifer Hulsen (1998-99) and Andrea Staats (1999-00) to go 36-2 at No. 1 doubles. In her senior season she posted a record of 25-0 in singles and 19-1 in doubles. Jimenez helped lead the Prairie Stars to their tenth national tournament in 20 years and the capture their sixth regional crown under head coach Dom Giacomini.
Carla was named Most Valuable Player of the year in both of her seasons because of her win streaks and her contribution to the team's most successful season ever.
Born in Cochabamaba, Bolivia, Carla became a national tennis champion at the age of seven. She competed as a part of the Bolivian national team at the Boliviarianos Games, the Odesur Games and the International Tennis Junior Circuit. She was ranked as high as nine on the circuit.
