SPRINGFIELD, IL – The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) baseball team prepares for the University of Indianapolis in a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) doubleheaders.

SETTING THE SCENE
UIS (23-4, 4-0) battles Indianapolis (17-8, 3-5) in doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. Both doubleheaders are scheduled to start at 12 p.m. at the UIS Baseball Field.

NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Prairie Stars are ranked No. 10 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) NCAA Division II poll and No. 1 in the latest NCBWA NCAA Division II poll. UIS is also ranked No. 15 in the latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper NCAA Division II poll and No. 14 in the latest Perfect Game NCAA Division II poll.

WHAT'S HAPPENING LATELY
Last week, UIS rolled to a 19-6 victory against the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) (13-14) on Wednesday and cruised to a 19-1 win against Robert Morris University-Springfield (1-11) on Saturday.

Bellarmine University (22-8, 7-1) swept Indianapolis in a four-game series last weekend. The Knights earned 5-2 and 9-2 wins on Saturday. Bellarmine then captured 9-7 and 11-7 victories on Sunday. The Knights are receiving votes in the latest NCBWA NCAA Division II poll.

STARS OF NOTE
Nick Stokowski has contributed 11 home runs and 42 RBIs on the season. Among NCAA Division II leaders, Stokowski ranks sixth in slugging percentage (.835), sixth in RBIs per game (1.56) and 11th in home runs per game (0.41). Stokowski leads the conference in the three previously listed categories. The senior from Monticello, IL also ranks second in the GLVC with a .423 batting average.

Among NCAA Division II leaders,
Justin Revels (5-0) ranks 15th in strikeouts per nine innings (13.14), 18th in ERA (1.19) and 22nd in opponent batting average (.174). The junior from Peoria, AZ leads the GLVC in ERA, opponent batting average and WHIP (0.90). Revels also ranks second in the conference in strikeouts per nine innings.

Andrew Dean (5-0) make up parts of a four-way tie for first in the GLVC in wins. Dean ranks second in the conference, behind Revels, in both opponent batting average (.175) and WHIP (0.93).

Michael Rothmund has delivered 11 doubles, nine homers and 33 RBIs on the season. The senior from Lombard, IL ranks second, behind Stokowski, in the GLVC and 25th in the nation with a .762 slugging percentage. Rothmund also ranks third in the conference in homers.

John Sechen ranks third in the conference and 17th in the nation with a .528 on-base percentage.

Jack Schaaf and Rothmund hold the top two spots in the GLVC in runs per game with 1.24 and 1.22, respectively.

Cam Zunkel (1-1) is tied for fourth in the conference with four saves.

Among NCAA Division II leaders, UIS ranks second in ERA (2.37), second in opponent batting average (.190), fourth in WHIP (1.14), sixth in slugging percentage (.539), ninth in scoring (9.1), 10th in home runs per game (1.44), 11th in batting average (.325), 11th in on-base percentage (.422), 16th in strikeouts per nine innings (9.9) and 16th in doubles per game (2.33). UIS leads the conference in each of the previous listed categories.

Dylan Jones has produced six homers, 26 RBIs and a .543 slugging percentage to lead the Greyhounds. Macy Holdsworth has a compiled a team-high .366 batting average.
