The UIS women's soccer team opens the fall 2026 season with two road games this week. The Prairie Stars will visit Alabama Huntsville on Friday at 4:00 p.m. before traveling to Nashville to face Trevecca Nazarene on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

UIS returns a squad that gained valuable experience last season. Leading scorer Mallory Herber returns for her junior season after scoring 7 goals as a sophomore. The Prairie Stars also welcome a large freshman class and were picked ninth in the GLVC preseason poll, just outside the projected tournament field.

UIS is looking to improve on its 5-9-3 record from 2025 and make its first GLVC Tournament appearance since 2024.

Alabama Huntsville also returns much of its offense, led by senior Carley White, who scored four goals last season. Returning goalkeeper CeCe Szopa owns a career 1.11 goals-against average and nine shutouts, giving the Chargers a strong presence in goal.

The Chargers are members of the Gulf South Conference, where they went 4-7-1 last season. Alabama Huntsville finished 6-9-2 overall in 2025 and was picked third in the GSC preseason poll.

Trevecca Nazarene finished 4-7-5 overall and 2-5-5 in conference play last season. The Trojans were picked 10th out of 12 teams in the GSC preseason poll.

Trevecca enters head coach Matheus Mello's second season after finishing tied for 10th in the Gulf South Conference in 2025 and narrowly missing the GSC Championship. The Trojans are expected to rely on Anna Farrell, who led the team in nearly every major offensive category last season.
