The University of Illinois Springfield softball team hosts four GLVC contests this weekend at Spartan Sports Park in Chatham, Ill. The Prairie Stars have doubleheaders against McKendree and Southern Indiana.

UIS enters play this week with a 6-14 overall record. The Prairie Stars started GLVC play last week with a 1-3 record. UIS was swept by Lindenwood, and split a doubleheader against Missouri-St. Louis.

The Prairie Stars have won of the top offenses in the GLVC. UIS is batting .314 for the season and has 64 stolen bases, over double the No. 2 team in the league in that category. On the mound, UIS has a 6.16 ERA for the year. The Prairie Stars showed improvement on the mound against the Tritons, allowing just three runs in each game.

Ashley Klinzing currently leads the GLVC with 24 hits, and
Kelsie Burrows is the league leader with 14 stolen bases.
Danielle Dennis has 14 RBI, and Klinzing has scored a team-best 14 times.
Reagan Miles leads the team with three victories on the mound, and she also has one save.

McKendree is currently 3-5 on the season, with a 2-2 mark in GLVC play. The Bearcats swept a doubleheader against Lewis last weekend, but fell twice to nationally-ranked Indianapolis in their other weekend series.

McKendree has a 7.43 ERA on the year, and, offensively, is batting .212. It is one of the top fielding teams in the league with a .971 fielding percentage.

Paige Hayden has been the team's top offensive player, batting .300 with a team-high five runs. Miranda Gajewski has four RBI in eight contests, and she is also the team leader on the mound with two wins and a .247 opponent batting average.

UIS has won five out of the last six meetings with McKendree. In 2019, UIS swept a doubleheader by scores of 2-0 and 8-3.

Southern Indiana is off to a 2-5 start this season. The Screaming Eagles first GLVC series last weekend was postponed due to the weather. They will face Lewis in a doubleheader on Saturday before travelling south to face the Prairie Stars.

Southern Indiana ranks fifth in the conference with a 3.22 ERA. Offensively, the team is batting .292 and scoring over four times a game.

Alicia Webb is off to a quick start at the plate, batting .550 with a .850 slugging percentage. On the mound, Allie Goodin has thrown the most innings on the team. She has a 2.66 ERA and a .226 opponent batting average.

In 2019, Southern Indiana swept a doubleheader against UIS, winning 7-0 and 5-2.
