Illinois Springfield Takes on William Jewell and Rockhurst in GLVC Action

SPRINGFIELD, IL --- The Prairie Stars will look to end a four game slide as they travel to William Jewell and Rockhurst in their first GLVC road games of the season. UIS is coming off two home losses to Truman State and #24 Quincy and looks for their first GLVC win of the season on the road.

SETTING THE SCENE
Illinois Springfield (5-8, 0-4) has opened the season with possibly the toughest four games in the GLVC. The combined record of the four GLVC teams UIS has faced so far sits at 53-6, including three to ranked teams. The Prairie Stars will now face the Cardinals (3-9, 0-5) who are currently 8th in the west and the Hawks (7-6, 1-4) who sit in 6th.

William Jewell comes into the game having lost their last eight games after beginning the season 3-1. They have four losses to the same four teams in the GLVC as UIS and have also suffered a loss to Rockhurst on the road.

Rockhurst enters the weekend on a two-game losing streak after winning four-straight before that. Their lone conference win is against William Jewell on December 7th.

GLVC RANKS
Individually, Eddie Longmeyer and Zach Steinberg are tied for 17th in the league, averaging 14.8 points per game. Steinberg still leads the conference in rebounds per game, bringing in 10.5 boards per contest. He remains the lone player in the 16-team conference to average a double-double.

Along with ranking in the top-20 in scoring, Longmeyer is 6th in assists per game, dishing out 4.46 dimes per contest. Longmeyer logs the second most minutes per game, staying on the court for 34.15 minutes every game.

Freshman guard, Lijah Donnelly sits in the top-ten in three-point field goal percentage, hitting 50 percent of his long balls. Donnelly is 17-of-34 from three-point land on the season.

SEEING DOUBLE
Steinberg has recorded eight double-doubles on the season, tying him with Joseph Tagarelli for the most in the league. This mark also puts him eight in the nation.

BALANCED ATTACK
Seven players average over 18 minutes per game on the court for UIS, resulting in five players scoring at least 9.5 points per game. Longmeyer and Steinberg lead the offensive attack at 14.8 points per game though Donnelly leads all freshman scoring 9.6 points per game.

ALL-TIME HISTORY
UIS holds a 4-3 record against William Jewell since their first match-up in 2011. UIS won the first three games before William Jewell took the next three. UIS took back control of the series last year with a 79-63 win in Springfield.

The Prairie Stars also hold a winning record against Rockhurst with a mark of 5-4 since the 2010 season. UIS has won three of the last four meetings between the two teams but fell last season in Springfield 78-68.

Austin Regier grabs 6.6 boards per game, which is the high for the Cardinals while Emil Ostafiicuic ranks third in the league with a 63.9 field goal percentage.
