Conference play is all wrapped up for the Prairie Stars, but they are still grinding out on the courts. Men play Illinois College on Tuesday at Washington Park before both squads travel to Truman on Wednesday. The women then close out the racquet season with a match against Knox College on Thursday.

Freshman Jane Carter has set the UIS single-season win record in Division II in just a half of a season. UIS also won its first conference match in two years at Saint Joseph's.

On the men's side, Cole Buehnerkemper is 14-10 overall and 13-8 in dual matches. He has won six of his last 10 and with doubles partner Hayden Esker, the duo has 13 doubles victories. First-year head coach Tom Rees bolstered the Stars' schedule with some wins and has an exciting future lined up for UIS.

The golf teams are in action this week, one of its final weeks of the 2014-15 season. The women's team hosts the UIS Spring Invite on Saturday and Sunday after finishing fifth last weekend at the Bash at the Beach. Sophomore Jocelyn Matsen (Springfield, Ill.) placed sixth after posting a career-best two round score of 148.

On the men's side, the Prairie Stars finished 25th at the Purgatory Regional #4 last weekend, their final tournament before the GLVC Championships this week. Senior Jacob Wherley (Ozark, Mo.) led the squad with a score of 150.

Softball
After opening the week with two losses at Lindenwood, the softball team bounced back with splits at Saint Joseph's and No. 10 UIndy. The Prairie Stars handed the Greyhounds one of their three conference losses on Saturday with a 1-0 victory. A successful squeeze play earned the run and allowed senior Lauren Hollinshead to score who advanced on a pair of miscues by UIndy. Hollinshead was the lone Star to get a hit against Morgan Foley in game one.

The Prairie Stars take to the road for the final time this year with a pair of non-conference games at Lincoln before turning their attention to conference play. UIS hits up Drury on Saturday and Missouri S&T on Sunday. The Panthers and Miners are both towards the bottom of the GLVC standings and are must-wins for UIS who is vying for a spot in the conference tournament.

Taylor Bowlby is one win away from matching Alexandria Smith's single-season win record, while UIS is just two wins away from matching last year's total.
