SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The Spring season is quickly winding down for the University of Illinois Springfield teams. Tennis and women's golf are in action in Springfield this weekend, but softball and baseball are heading out on the road for conference play.

TennisConference play is all wrapped up for the Prairie Stars, but they are still grinding out on the courts. Men play Illinois College on Tuesday at Washington Park before both squads travel to Truman on Wednesday. The women then close out the racquet season with a match against Knox College on Thursday.
Freshman
Jane Carter has set the UIS single-season win record in Division II in just a half of a season. UIS also won its first conference match in two years at Saint Joseph's.
On the men's side,
Cole Buehnerkemper is 14-10 overall and 13-8 in dual matches. He has won six of his last 10 and with doubles partner
Hayden Esker, the duo has 13 doubles victories. First-year head coach
Tom Rees bolstered the Stars' schedule with some wins and has an exciting future lined up for UIS.

This Week - WGolf: UIS Spring Invite, April 18 & 19; MGolf: The GLVC Championships, April 19-21The golf teams are in action this week, one of its final weeks of the 2014-15 season. The women's team hosts the UIS Spring Invite on Saturday and Sunday after finishing fifth last weekend at the Bash at the Beach. Sophomore
Jocelyn Matsen (Springfield, Ill.) placed sixth after posting a career-best two round score of 148.
On the men's side, the Prairie Stars finished 25th at the Purgatory Regional #4 last weekend, their final tournament before the GLVC Championships this week. Senior
Jacob Wherley (Ozark, Mo.) led the squad with a score of 150.
SoftballAfter opening the week with two losses at Lindenwood, the softball team bounced back with splits at Saint Joseph's and No. 10 UIndy. The Prairie Stars handed the Greyhounds one of their three conference losses on Saturday with a 1-0 victory. A successful squeeze play earned the run and allowed senior
Lauren Hollinshead to score who advanced on a pair of miscues by UIndy. Hollinshead was the lone Star to get a hit against Morgan Foley in game one.
The Prairie Stars take to the road for the final time this year with a pair of non-conference games at Lincoln before turning their attention to conference play. UIS hits up Drury on Saturday and Missouri S&T on Sunday. The Panthers and Miners are both towards the bottom of the GLVC standings and are must-wins for UIS who is vying for a spot in the conference tournament.

Alexandria Smith's single-season win record, while UIS is just two wins away from matching last year's total.

After sweeping the McKendree Bearcats on Tuesday, 4-2 and 4-2, UIS is tied for second place in the GLVC East Division standings with Bellarmine with a 12-12 record.UIS has won its last three games thanks in large part to its pitching staff. In the last three games, the Prairie Stars have held their opponents to just 15 hits and five earned runs in 25 innings. Senior
Kyle Schildroth (Aviston, Ill.) is 5-1 on the season with a 1.98 earned-run-average.
Junior
Adam Warda (Skokie, Ill.) leads the team with a .328 batting average. He also tops the team in hits, runs, doubles and on-base percentage.
