University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) men’s golfer Jaime Kreisler has been selected as the Male Spotlight Athlete for the month of November.
The Prairie Stars tied for eighth the Midwest Regional with a 36-hole score of 606 on Oct. 8-9. Kreisler tied for 31st with a score of 151, behind rounds of 76 and 75 on the par-72 layout at Fox Run Golf Club.
UIS tied for third in the McKendree Fall Invitational with a 54-hole score of 881 on Oct. 22-23. Kreisler tied for 22nd, shooting rounds of 77, 75 and 75 on the par-72 layout at Far Oaks Golf Club.
The Prairie Stars then captured second in the UIS Island Getaway with a 36-hole score of 607 on Oct. 29-30. Kreisler tied for fifth with a 149, firing rounds of 75 and 74 on the par-72 layout at Rio Mar Country Club. The sophomore from El Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain tied his lowest round of the season with his round of 74.

I think that my teammates, competitors, coaches… are my inspiration. They are the reason why I wake up every morning with the willingness to practice and get better.

What motivates me is the possibility of getting better each day
What are your favorite aspects about sports?
There are so many positive outcomes: discipline, sacrifice, health, friends. Especially, golf has taught me to be more organized and patient.
What is your favorite non-athletics memory at UIS?
Any time I spend with my friends and teammates on campus.

Any of our wins at Panther Creek Country Club and our trip to Puerto Rico.
What are your favorite hobbies?
I like working out, TV shows, music, to hang out with friends and occasionally playing tennis.

Back home I live 200 yards away from the beach.
Why did you choose UIS?
I think is the best college for me to develop my both academic and athletic skills. As a foreign student it is great to get involved in medium-sized campus.
What is your favorite class?
Business Calculus because I think I’m good at it.
Who is your favorite professor?
Cliff White because he is funny and I actually learned stuff in his class.
What do you want your lasting legacy to be as a student-athlete at UIS?
I just want to be remember as a guy that had fun with his teammates playing golf.
