Illinois Springfield women's soccer played Missouri S&T to a 1-1 tie Saturday. The Prairie Stars scored in the first half and Missouri S&T scored in the second, and both teams finished with four shots on goal.

UIS opened the scoring at 15:14 when Sophia Davila took off on a 30-yard run before sending a cross to Rachel Riney, who finished the chance for her second goal of the season. Gigi Yurevich made saves in the 24th and 36th minutes, and the Prairie Stars carried the 1-0 advantage into halftime.

Addi Wittenberg put two shots wide early in the second half, but Missouri S&T tied the match at 1-1 on Jenna Marti's goal at 61:40. Kalli Drexler had the Prairie Stars' lone shot on goal after that, saved by Catie Riddle at 78:54, and the match finished 1-1.

Riney scored the Prairie Stars' goal, putting her lone shot on frame and recording two points. Davila assisted on the goal and finished with three shots, including one on goal. Goalkeeper Gigi Yurevich played all 90 minutes and made three saves.

"Although it wasn't the outcome we wanted, we were still able to come out of a tough battle with a tie and a point on the road," said Yurevich. "The next few days of training will be crucial to get prepared for the next match."

"We saw a great team effort to get us on the board early," added head coach Scott Myers. "Great goal by Rachel Riney tonight to be composed in front of the net after a perfectly placed cross from Sophie Davila. We were able to create some of the moments tonight that we worked on this week in practice, and we did a better job of controlling the midfield."

"As a program, we are focused on taking steps forward, and getting conference points on the road is not easy in the GLVC. We continue to accomplish small tasks in our process, and that's all I can ask for. We will get back to campus and get ready for the Quincy clash midweek."
