Prairie Stars Travel to Missouri S&T Looking to End Scoring Drought

9/18/2026 3:00:00 PM

The UIS women's soccer team returns to the road Saturday, taking on Missouri S&T at 5 p.m. in Rolla, Mo. The match was originally scheduled for noon but was moved to 5 p.m. due to the heat.

Illinois Springfield enters the match with a 3-3 overall record and a 1-2 mark in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars are looking to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Truman State on Wednesday.

UIS has scored nine goals this season, with eight different players finding the back of the net. The Prairie Stars have not scored since their conference-opening win over Lincoln on Sept. 5 and will look to get their offense going again against the Miners.
Saturday's match is the 18th all-time meeting between the programs, with UIS holding a 9-8 advantage in the series.

Missouri S&T enters the contest after being picked seventh in the GLVC Preseason Coaches' Poll, while UIS was selected ninth. With only eight teams advancing to the GLVC Tournament at the end of the regular season, each conference match carries added significance as teams work toward securing a postseason spot.

Adriana Benassi leads the Miners with three goals this season, while two other players have scored twice. Missouri S&T's goalkeeper Catie Riddle enters Saturday with a 1.20 goals-against average.

Saturday's match will be available to watch on the GLVC Sports Network, with live statistics also available online.
