Senior distance runner Madelyn Miller-Ross will compete in the 5,000-meters at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, selections were announced Tuesday by the NCAA.

The championship meet will take place Thursday, May 21 through Saturday, May 23 at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kan.

Miller-Ross is scheduled to race at 6:55 p.m. Saturday in one of the final events of the meet. Her 5K field features several familiar national contenders, including runners from Grand Valley State University, Adams State University, Wingate University, California State University, Chico and Colorado School of Mines. The field includes reigning national champion Tristian Spence and standout GVSU runner Lauren Kiley.

It marks Miller-Ross' second consecutive outdoor national championship appearance after qualifying in both the 5,000-meters and 10,000-meters as a junior. She has now competed at NCAA Championships in five consecutive seasons — 2024-25 indoor track, 2025 outdoor track, 2025 cross country, 2025-26 indoor track and now 2026 outdoor track — closing out a record-setting career.

Earlier this year, Miller-Ross earned First Team All-America honors in the same event at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, finishing sixth.

This season, Miller-Ross posted a program-record time of 16:19.76 in the 5K at the Bryan Clay Invitational in April. She also captured the GLVC title in the 10,000-meters with a time of 35:09.

Live results will be provided by Leone Timing and linked on the UIS women's track & field schedule page. The championships will also be streamed on NCAA.com.
