The nationally ranked UIS baseball team will take the field at Robin Roberts Stadium twice this April, as the Prairie Stars play a pair of GLVC series openers at Springfield's historic baseball venue.

UIS will host Maryville on Friday, April 17 at 6:00 p.m. and McKendree on Thursday, April 30 at 6:00 p.m. at Robin Roberts Stadium, home of the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes. Admission is free for both games, and concessions will be available.

Robin Roberts Stadium has been a fixture of Springfield baseball for more than 100 years. Opened in 1925, the ballpark has hosted affiliates of the St. Louis Cardinals, San Diego Padres, Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Browns, and currently serves as the home of Prospect League baseball in Springfield.

The matchups will give UIS a chance to compete in a unique night-game atmosphere in a historic ballpark setting, while also offering local baseball fans the opportunity to catch a college game at a familiar Springfield venue. Since the the inception of the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes, a number of Prairie Stars have also spent summers with the 'Shoes and other Prospect League teams, adding a familiar connection between the programs.

Because both series openers are scheduled for the evening, the doubleheaders on the second day of each series have been moved to 1:00 p.m. instead of the originally scheduled noon start times.
