The Illinois Springfield baseball team continues to climb in the national rankings, moving up to No. 15 in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Top 25 poll after previously sitting at No. 17.

At the time of the poll, UIS owned a 25-8 overall record and was one of just two Midwest-region programs ranked nationally, joined only by No. 6 Grand Valley State. The Prairie Stars are now 26-8 following Tuesday's win at UMSL.

In the Midwest Region poll, the Prairie Stars continue to rank near the top, sitting at No. 2 just five points behind Grand Valley State. UIS also earned one first-place vote in the regional rankings.

This week, UIS will face Missouri S&T, who has climbed from No. 7 to No. 5 in the Midwest Region. Upcoming matchups also include Maryville, currently ranked No. 10, and Indianapolis, which received votes just outside the top 10.

The Prairie Stars have not lost a series this season. They've already taken on and defeated regionally ranked teams Drury and Quincy, including a sweep of No. 7 Quincy two weeks ago, highlighting their ability to compete with the top teams in the GLVC and Midwest Region.
