The Illinois Springfield softball team opens its 2026 conference slate this weekend at home against Truman State with a noon and 2:00 p.m. doubleheader on Friday. The games were moved up from Sunday due to the forecast. The doubleheader at Quincy is now scheduled for noon on Saturday.
Illinois Springfield (16-6)
UIS enters conference play carrying momentum from key regional wins at Ohio Dominican on Tuesday. The Prairie Stars have also defeated Davenport twice and Roosevelt three times early this season, showing strength against Midwest Region opponents.
Pitching has been a highlight for UIS, with
Calista Stahlhut continuing to deliver strong outings, including six innings allowing just one run in a win at Ohio Dominican on Tuesday.
Alexis Carroll also pitched a complete-game shutout earlier this week with seven strikeouts, while
Rosie Bartletti has a 1.08 ERA and has been reliable for the staff.
On offense,
Emme Steward leads the team in power, hitting five home runs and posting a .404 average with a 1.271 OPS.
Rebecca Neupauer is a top contact hitter at .412 with 13 runs scored.
Rosie Bartletti combines average and power, hitting .364 with nine doubles and one home run while leading the team in stolen bases, converting 22-of-24 attempts.
Calista Stahlhut has also contributed at the plate, hitting .364 with five doubles and five RBIs in limited at-bats.
Truman State (8-16)
Truman State comes off the Grand Slam Classic, where they went 2-2. The Bulldogs are a team that thrives on doubles and feature Cassie Smith, a .480 hitter with 36 hits and 13 stolen bases. Pitcher Jayda Long has been the standout in the circle, posting a 1.76 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 51.2 innings. TSU leads the all-time series 15-10, winning the last four meetings.
Quincy (4-16)
Quincy rebounded from a tough stretch with an 8-0 run-rule win over Columbia College in their most recent game. Top hitters include Makala Koozer, hitting .406, and Kaidence Dumas, who has four home runs and a .309 average. Hailey Platt and Haley Martin anchor the pitching staff. UIS leads the all-time series 20-13, including four straight wins over the Hawks.
