UIS Softball Capital City McDonald’s Classic Preview

2/18/2026 1:00:00 PM

UIS Softball will host the Capital City McDonald's Classic this week at the Springfield Clinic Dome at Scheels Sports Park. The three-team event runs Thursday and Friday and features Ohio Dominican and Davenport.

Each team will face the others once per day, with one field in use throughout the tournament.

Illinois Springfield (7-3)
UIS enters the weekend riding momentum after winning four games last weekend, sweeping doubleheaders against Lake Erie and Thomas More at the UIS Springfield Clinic Classic.

Freshman Emme Steward, the reigning conference Player of the Week, powered the offense with a breakout weekend. The third baseman hit .889 while reaching base at a .929 clip, fitting seamlessly into the lineup. On the season, Steward leads the team with a .591 average, 1.727 OPS, and nine RBIs.

In the circle, Rosie Bartletti and Calista Stahlhut anchored the pitching staff. Both pitchers earned two wins last weekend and combined to allow just two earned runs while striking out 25 batters. Bartletti enters the tournament with a 0.22 ERA on the season, while Stahlhut carries a 1.24 mark.

Ohio Dominican (0-4)
Ohio Dominican opened its season at the Chattanooga Invitational earlier this month, where UIS also competed. The Panthers went 0-4 against strong regional competition but managed to score in every game and have not been shut out this season.

Offensively, ODU has leaned heavily on the top of its lineup. Addie Triplett (.500, 1 HR), Olivia Congleton (.500, 1.667 OPS), and Erica Massey (.429) have driven most of the production through the first weekend.

In the circle, Emma Grau has handled the bulk of the workload.

Davenport
Thursday's 11:00 a.m. matchup will mark the season opener for Davenport. The Panthers finished 18-30 last season, including a 9-19 record in the GLIAC, and went 1-5 against GLVC opponents familiar to UIS.

Davenport returns its top two pitchers from a year ago in Hailey Whisman (128.0 IP) and Hannah Tahaney (91.1 IP), providing experience and stability in the circle. Offensively, the Panthers are led by Ally Prasnjak, their top returning hitter from 2025.
