UIS Women’s Basketball Travels to UIndy Seeking Season Sweep

2/13/2026 1:00:00 PM

The Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars return to action Saturday with a road matchup against the Indianapolis Greyhounds. Tipoff is set for 12:00 p.m. CT (1:00 p.m. ET) in Indianapolis.

Illinois Springfield (10-13, 7-8 GLVC)
UIS enters the weekend looking to level its conference record, leaning into a style of play that has been most effective when the Prairie Stars control pace and apply defensive pressure.

One of the Prairie Stars' defining strengths has been scoring depth. UIS ranks sixth in the GLVC in offense at 67.7 points per game, relying on balanced production and perimeter shooting depth.

Defensively, UIS has been one of the league's most disruptive teams. The Prairie Stars rank second in the GLVC in turnover margin (+3.9), forcing nearly four more turnovers per game than they commit. That pressure has allowed UIS to control tempo, limit opponent possessions, and generate transition opportunities.

Individually, Kayla Rice anchors the offense at 15.5 points per game, shooting nearly 40 percent from three-point range. Julia Mingus (12.5 ppg) and Kennedy Osterman (11.4 ppg) provide scoring balance, while freshmen Mingus and Libby Blythe have emerged as key contributors, adding versatility to the rotation.

Indianapolis (5-19, 4-12 GLVC)
UIndy enters Saturday near the bottom of the conference standings and is still searching for consistency. The Greyhounds rank 13th in the GLVC in scoring offense at 58.4 points per game.

Ball security has been a challenge for Indianapolis this season, as the Greyhounds sit 12th in the league in turnover margin (-1.4). Limiting mistakes and slowing the pace will be key as they look to stay competitive against the pressure-oriented Prairie Stars.

The Greyhounds are led by Patricia Chikamba, who averages 14.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, with Autumn Rucker (10.8 ppg), Amyrah Sapenter (8.8 ppg), and Graycie Poe (8.5 ppg) providing additional scoring options.
