UIS Women's Basketball Travels to Missouri S&T for Rescheduled Matchup

2/9/2026 12:00:00 PM

The Prairie Stars head to Rolla, Mo., to take on the Missouri S&T Miners in a game originally scheduled for Jan. 24, postponed due to heavy snow and freezing temperatures in the Midwest.

Illinois Springfield (9-13, 6-8 GLVC)
UIS has gone 2-2 since the date the game was originally scheduled for, highlighted by a strong weekend of home wins followed by a tough road trip with losses at Maryville and McKendree. After a slight dip in three-point shooting last week, the Prairie Stars aim to play to their strengths—still GLVC's second-best team from beyond the arc at 36.6% on the season.

UIS is also among the league's top offenses, averaging 67.7 points per game (GLVC #5), ahead of 10 other teams. Following Tuesday's matchup, UIS will enjoy a Thursday bye before traveling to Indianapolis to face the UIndy Greyhounds on Saturday.

Missouri S&T (8-11, 4-9 GLVC)
The Miners are currently on a three-game skid after a Jan. 29 win at Indianapolis, including recent home losses to Upper Iowa (77-73 OT) and Quincy (61-56). Missouri S&T ranks 10th in the GLVC, just a couple of games back from UIS.

S&T averages 67.0 points per game with a top-5 league defense allowing 61.3 points. Both teams sit in the middle of the league in field-goal percentage. A potential difference-maker: the Miners rank No. 2 in the GLVC for team rebounds. If UIS can limit second-chance opportunities and control the pace, it should make for an exciting matchup.
