Illinois Springfield junior Brooks Cluver has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference/Athletic Solutions Men's Golf Player of the Week, the league office announced Thursday.
Cluver, a transfer, earns his first career GLVC Player of the Week honor after tying for fourth at the Midwest Collegiate on Sept. 28-29 at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, Indiana. His performance helped the Prairie Stars tie for fifth among 18 teams with a three-round score of 875 (296-284-295).
The Clinton, Illinois native carded rounds of 72, 69 and 73 to finish at 214 (-2). He also recorded an eagle on the par-5 13th hole during the opening round.
Cluver ranked among the tournament's top performers in both par-3 and par-4 scoring. He tied for third with a 2.92 average on par-3 holes and tied for fifth with a 3.93 average on par-4 holes.
The honor is the first GLVC Player of the Week award of Cluver's career and the first for a Prairie Stars men's golfer since Peyton Woods was recognized one year prior.
Cluver and the Prairie Stars will return to competition Oct. 4-5 at the Coyote Creek Classic in Bartonville, Ill.
