"I'm really proud of the way our guys competed this week," said assistant coach Mara Martínez. "We showed early on that we're capable of competing with a Division I field, and being right there near the top gave us a lot of confidence. We had a tough stretch toward the end of the second round and didn't get off to the start we wanted today, but I was proud of the way they kept fighting and were able to recover. I think this week showed us what we're capable of, while also giving us a lot to learn from."
The Prairie Stars will close out the fall season at the Bearcat Dual Gender, hosted by McKendree, on Oct. 20-21.
