UIS Softball will open GLVC Championship Tournament play on Thursday, May 4 at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Illinois. The No. 5 Prairie Stars are set to meet the No. 4 Maryville Saints at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The winner of that game will move on to face the winner of No. 1 Indianapolis versus No. 8 Drury.
The Prairie Stars, fourth in this week's Midwest Regional Rankings, finished the regular season 14-10 in conference play. UIS has had 33 regular season wins this year, improving upon their 31-win 2022 season.
UIS enters tournament play with one of the top offenses in the GLVC, ranking second with 4.5 runs per game and a season total of 435 hits. The Prairie Stars have three in the GKVC top-10 for hits and stolen bases.
UIS has three of the GLVC top-15 pitchers in
Reagan Miles,
Taylor Zawacki, and
Rosie Bartletti. The team has a combined ERA of 2.26 this season. Miles has 13 wins and Zawacki is third in the conference with 183 strikeouts.
The 27-19 Saints went 15-9 against GLVC opponents this spring. UIS and Maryville split when they met in March, with UIS dropping game one 5-2, then winning game two 12-6.
All-conference selections will be announced Wednesday night after the GLVC Softball Championship banquet.

Coverage begins Thursday, May 5 at 9:50 AM Central Time with fourth-seeded Maryville University facing off against No. 5 seed University of Illinois Springfield, while top-seeded University of Indianapolis and No. 8 seed Drury University will square off against each other at 12:30 PM in the second contest of the day. The third game features second-seeded University of Missouri-St. Louis against 7-seed Rockhurst University at 3 PM before No. 3 seed McKendree University takes on No. 6 seed Lewis University in the other first-round game at 5 PM in the bottom half of the bracket.
Friday and Saturday's games will also be contested at 10 AM, 12:30 PM, 3, and 5:30 with the bracket flipping for games 11 and 12 on Saturday.
Championship Sunday will begin at noon should neither of the "if necessary" games be needed. Should either of those occur, there may be a game at 10 AM and 12:30 PM before the Championship contest at 3 PM.
