The No. 20 UIS baseball team is set for a four-game series versus the McKendree Bearcats on April 6-8.
UIS is 22-8 and 12-4 in GLVC play after splitting a weekend series with No. 7 Quincy last week. McKendree, 13-17 and 7-9 in GLVC play, split their last two series versus Lewis and Rockhurst.
Asher Bradd leads NCAA DII with a .488 batting average and 1.97 hits per game. Right handed pitcher
Ryan Carmack is the NCAA leader across all divisions in strikeouts per nine innings (17.75) with 71 strikeouts in 36 innings so far this spring. Carmack leads a UIS pitching staff that has held opponents to a .244 batting average. UIS holds the lowest opponent batting average in the GLVC even after facing some of the best bats in NCAA DII last week.
McKendree's Joey Kossina leads the nation in the Toughest to Strike Out category after striking out just twice in 83 at-bats. As a team, the Bearcats bat .283 and average 6.7 runs per game.
The series will be played at Lloyd Hopkins Field, the home of the Alton River Dragons, in Cottage Hills, Ill. The teams will play a single game on Thursday at 5 p.m., a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday, and one final game at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
