The UIS baseball team is set for a series versus the Truman State Bulldogs this weekend in Kirksville, Mo. Game times are set for 3:00 p.m. on Friday, a 12:00 and 3:00 doubleheader on Saturday, and a noon series finale on Sunday.
The Bulldogs are 15-27 and 5-19 in GLVC play. They picked up one win in their series versus Maryville last weekend. UIS is on a three-game winning streak against Truman State, including a 15-2 win with three doubles and three home runs in their last meeting.
The 28-10 Prairie Stars are 11-5 on the road and look to pick up their 19
th in-conference win in Friday's series opener.
Ryan Carmack and
Connor McKenna both rank among the top five in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings, coming in second and fifth place respectively. Carmack is also 15
th in total strikeouts with 85.
Asher Bradd maintains a .455 batting average to rank fifth in NCAA DII in that statistic.
The Prairie Stars appeared on the initial alphabetical regional rankings that were released on Wednesday. UIS is also No. 22 in the NCBWA Top-25 poll this week.
