The University of Illinois Springfield softball team will welcome two GLVC opponents to the UIS Softball Field this weekend. UIS will celebrate Alumni Day on Saturday and Senior Day on Sunday.
The Prairie Stars are 28-17 and 9-7 in GLVC play. They appeared in the initial regional rankings for the 2023 season that were released on Wednesday.
Rockhurst
The 17-19 Rockhurst Hawks are 10-5 in GLVC play and on a three-game winning streak. The Hawks split with McKendree on Sunday and swept Central Missouri in a midweek matchup.
UIS leads the all-time series 15-6, but split a series the last time the teams met.
William Jewell
The William Jewell softball team is 5-35 and 0-18 in the conference. The Cardinals are on a fourteen-game losing streak but will play two doubleheaders before coming to Springfield on Sunday.
The Prairie Stars lead the all-time series with twelve wins and three losses. The Cardinals last defeated the Prairie Stars in 2016.
Alumni Day
Alumni Day at Prairie Stars Softball will begin 30 minutes prior to the first pitch at 11:30 a.m. Parking, admission, food, and refreshments are free of charge. The doubleheader game times are 12:00 & 2:00 p.m., and celebratory events will occur throughout the afternoon.
Senior Day
The UIS softball program will recognize seven seniors on Sunday after the second game.
