The University of Illinois Springfield softball team will host its Springfield Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Spartan Sports Park in Chatham, Ill. 

The Prairie Stars are 9-4 after three weekends on the road, including a 6-2 win over Davenport who they will face in a doubleheader this Sunday.

UIS is set to start at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday with a matchup against 6-4 Purdue Northwest, their first of four weekend games against Midwest region opponents. The Prairie Stars will then face 4-5 Hillsdale at 2:00 p.m. 

The Prairie Stars are ranked 2nd in pitching, and 3rd in both batting and fielding in the current GLVC standings. Ella Brinkley is among the top-ten athletes in the conference with a .441 batting average. Rosie Bartletti (1-1), Taylor Zawacki (2-2), and Reagan Miles (3-1) are among the top-10 pitchers in the conference, all with ERAs under 2.00.
