UIS track and field traveled to Chicago, Ill. on Friday for the Lewis Invitational. The Prairie Stars took down three school records and had four top-five finishes.

Hayley Goebel made her debut for the Prairie Stars with school records in the weight throw and shot put events. Goebel marked 13.90m in the weight throw for 6th place, and 10.36m in shot put for 9th. The previous shot put school record was a tie between Teddy Beaucham (2018) and Kaitlin ZImmerman (2017) at 10.20m.

Matt Moler ran a school record time of 1:53.88 in his 800m debut as a Prairie Star. Moler's time lands him third in the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings. He is also third in the standings for the mile run with an NCAA DII provisional mark of 4:08.75. 

Gabe Martinez was the top finisher of the day with a second place finish in the 3000m. His 8:29.36 in the event was a personal best, and lands him fourth in the current GLVC standings. Breanna Chandler, Ryan Jones, and Matt Moler each finished fourth in their respective events. 

UIS will travel to Allendale, Mich. next weekend for Grand Valley State's Big Meet.
