The University of Illinois Springfield softball team will travel to Evansville, Ind. for Kentucky Wesleyan's Blue Bridge Battle this weekend.
The Prairie Stars will face four Division II teams from the Midwest region. Their first three opponents, host school Kentucky Wesleyan, Trevecca Nazarene, and Northwood, are members of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC). Davenport, who UIS will face in the final game of the weekend, is a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
UIS softball is 5-4 after two weekends of play, including games against two ranked teams. The Prairie Stars stand fifth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) in batting and pitching, and third in fielding. UIS is one of three GLVC teams with a record over .500. The conference is led by Indianapolis (8-2).
Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. versus Kentucky Wesleyan
Kentucky Wesleyan (2-8) is on a 7-game losing streak, including a loss to GLVC opponent McKendree.
Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. versus Trevecca Nazarene
Trevecca Nazarene is 3-3 including a 9-1 win over Missouri S&T, and a 5-2 loss against Maryville.
Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. versus Northwood
Northwood softball is 4-1, including a loss to Harding in their most recent game.
Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. versus Davenport
The Davenport Panthers are 3-1 after facing four opponents from the Midwest region.
