Four Men’s Soccer Athletes Earn United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region Honors

United Soccer Coaches announced its All-Region selections in men's soccer on Tuesday. On the list were four UIS Prairie Stars.

Max Tweddle and Adrian Adames earned First Team honors while Andrea Scapolo and Riccardo Sandulli garnered Second Team distinction. 


Adames, the GLVC Defensive Player of the Year led the Prairie Stars in goal scoring in 2023 with a total of six. He played a team-high 1823 minutes as the team went 13-1-7, 10-0-3 against GLVC opponents.

Max Tweddle pushed the envelope with nine assists this season, becoming the single-season record holder at UIS. Tweddle's stellar season included a two-assist performance against Davenport on Sept. 2. He also holds the UIS NAIA & DII (2004-2021) record of 13 career assists after just two seasons with the Prairie Stars.

Riccardo Sandulli is one of three Prairie Stars with five goals on the season. Sandulli came away from the season with four game-winning goals as a defender. He competed for the Prairie Stars for 1562 minutes this fall, the fourth most on the team.

Andrea Scapolo, the team's starting goalkeeper and GLVC Goalkeeper of the Year, allowed just four goals in his 19 games this season. He tallied sixteen shutouts, fifteen solo and one combined, and boasted a save percentage of 89.5%. It is the best season performance by a UIS goalkeeper in the program's history. He led the nation in save percentage (.895) and goals against average (.207), allowing 4 goals in 1736 minutes played.
