Former Sangamon State Standout Mark Moser to Have Jersey Retired by St. Louis Ambush

2/3/2026 9:00:00 AM

A former Sangamon State men's soccer standout, Mark Moser, will be honored by the St. Louis Ambush with a special jersey retirement ceremony and alumni game on Saturday, Feb. 7.

Moser was a key member of the historic 1986 Sangamon State men's soccer team, which is enshrined in the University of Illinois Springfield Hall of Fame after capturing the NAIA National Championship and earning a second-place finish at the World Collegiate Cup.

Following his collegiate success, Moser went on to build an exceptional professional career in the National Professional Soccer League, now known as the Major Arena Soccer League. He spent 12 seasons with the St. Louis Ambush, retiring as one of the most accomplished players in franchise history with 512 career goals and a 1995 NPSL Championship title.

The St. Louis Ambush will celebrate Moser's lasting impact on the game with a jersey retirement ceremony prior to the game, while also recognizing alumni from Sangamon State University, the University of Illinois Springfield, and the St. Louis Ambush.
