The UIS men's soccer program has announced the addition of TJ Knight as an assistant coach, bringing Division I playing experience and a development-focused perspective to the Prairie Stars staff.

"I am excited to welcome TJ to UIS and have him join our program," said head coach Graham Shaw. "Throughout the interview process, his passion for the game of soccer and his commitment to player development were consistently evident. TJ brings a strong understanding of the game, shaped by his experience in a professional playing environment as well as a successful collegiate career. Those experiences have helped him develop a clear vision for how to train, mentor, and connect with student-athletes. His knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm for developing players both on and off the field will be a valuable addition to our staff, and I am confident he will have a positive and lasting impact on our team and our overall program."

Knight joins UIS after a collegiate career in the West Coast Conference, spending time at both the University of San Francisco and Saint Mary's College of California. Across four seasons, he appeared in more than 50 matches and logged over 2,000 minutes, competing at multiple positions.

Knight developed in the Phoenix Rising FC Academy, where he spent six years and signed a USL Academy contract in 2022. He made his professional debut with Phoenix Rising FC in May 2022, gaining valuable experience at the professional level.

Knight brings a player-first mindset shaped by overcoming adversity throughout his career. His experience across multiple systems and roles provides a valuable perspective for player development and tactical growth within the UIS program.

Knight will assist with training sessions, recruiting, player development, and match preparation as UIS continues to build toward future success.
