Two more members of the 2022 University of Illinois Springfield baseball team have signed contracts with a professional baseball team.
Zion Pettigrew signed last month with the Lake Country Dockhounds, and
Luke Fitton is now with the Joliet Slammers.

Pettigrew has been a member of the Dockhounds since June 21. Lake Country plays in the American Association of Professional Baseball league, the same league that former Prairie Stars catcher
Bobby Barnard signed with this summer. Pettigrew has played in 18 games, and is batting .318 with 11 runs, 10 RBI, seven doubles, and four home runs.

Pettigrew was a consensus first-team All-American this past season. He batted .420 with a .534 on-base percentage and .897 slugging percentage. Pettigrew finished the year with 79 runs, 95 RBI, 23 doubles, and 28 home runs.

Fitton signed with the Slammers late last week. Joliet is a member of the Frontier League. Fitton has already made two appearances, allowing just one run and one hit in two innings of work.

Fitton appeared in 15 games for the Prairie Stars in 2022. He was 2-0 with a 4.05 ERA and a .237 opponent batting average. He struck out 22 batters in 20 innings of work, and allowed just 18 hits.
