University of Illinois Springfield men's tennis player
Menno Servaes was named a third-team Academic All-American on Tuesday. It is the first Academic All-American award for one of this year's UIS Scholar Athletes of the Year, and he is the second men's tennis player in program history to win the honor.

Servaes won the award in the men's at-large category. He was selected as one of the top student-athletes in NCAA Division II among the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo, and wrestling.

Servaes is one of the top men's tennis player in UIS history. He finished his career with an 89-42 overall record, including a 48-19 singles record and 41-23 doubles mark. In 2021-22, he earned his second straight all-GLVC honor after leading UIS with a 19-7 singles record and a 13-9 mark while playing doubles. He was a semifinalist at the ITA Regional Singles Tournament, and was a co-winner in singles at the UIS Invitational.

Off the court, Servaes was the 2021 GLVC Men's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He has also won the GLVC Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Scholar Award and been a member of the GLVC Academic All-Conference team in each of his seasons at UIS.
