The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team has advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals for the second time in program history. The Prairie Stars will be hosting the best-of-three round this Friday and Saturday at the UIS Baseball Field, and they will be taking on conference rival Quincy.
UIS won regionals last week by going 3-0, including a 6-3 victory over Wayne State in the championship game. The Prairie Stars have now won 10 straight contests, the third time this season with a winning streak of 10 or more.
Quincy won its regionals with a 9-7 win over Davenport in the finals. The Hawks are 6-3 in their postseason run, including winning their final three games last week.
UIS and Quincy have played five times this season. The Hawks have won three of the contests. The Prairie Stars won the biggest game, though, defeating Quincy by a 16-3 score in the GLVC Tournament Championship game.
