University of Illinois Springfield softball player
Danielle Dennis was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team on Thursday. Dennis has now earned this honor for two consecutive seasons.
Â
Dennis was a second-team all-GLVC and first-team NFCA all-region honoree this past season. She batted .381 with a .626 slugging percentage and .472 on-base percentage. She was the only Prairie Star to start all 50 games, and she had 44 runs, 53 hits, 15 doubles, two triples, five home runs, 40 RBI, and 19 stolen bases. Dennis tied the school record for RBI in a season, and had the third-best batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, and runs in program history.
Â
In the GLVC this season, she ranked third in doubles, sixth in runs per game and stolen bases, and ninth in on-base percentage.
Â
Off the field, Dennis has earned the GLVC Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Scholar Award in both of her first two seasons, and was also a GLVC Academic All-Conference team members those years.
