The UIS baseball team will host Southern Indiana this weekend in a four-game series at the UIS Baseball Field. The series will consist of two days of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. UIS enters the weekend at 1-3 in conference play after a tough opening weekend. Southern Indiana comes in at 2-2 in GLVC action.

The Prairie Stars had their bye weekend last week. They did however earn two victories in midweek contests against the University of Missouri St. Louis. Prior to that, UIS went 1-3 on the road against Quincy in the GLVC opening weekend.

Overall, UIS heads into its second week of conference play with a record of 20-6. The Prairie Stars are ranked 18th nationally in Division II.

Offensively, UIS is averaging 10.4 runs per game and ranks sixth nationally in home runs per game. The Prairie Stars are also ranked third in NCAA Division II in slugging percentage.

The pitching staff for UIS ranks first in the GLVC in strikeouts and ranks sixth nationally in strikeouts per nine innings.

Colton Hale headlines the starting staff and has a 5-1 record on the year.
Blake Begner remains undefeated with a 3-0 record. Mathew Blaney has been one of the team's top relievers boasting a 1.76 era with 21 strikeouts in 15.1 innings.

Southern Indiana enters play this week with a 13-13 record and 2-2 in GLVC play. The Screaming Eagles are coming off a four-game split with Quincy.

th in the GLVC in runs scored. Southern Indiana is eighth in the GLVC in ERA.
Brice Stuteville heads the Southern Indiana staff with a 4-1 record. He holds a 2.60 ERA and has 28 strikeouts in 34.2 innings. Lucas McNew leads the Southern Indiana offense with a .363 batting average. He also leads the team in doubles, home runs, and runs batted in.
UIS and Southern Indiana played five times during the 2021 season. UIS beat Southern Indiana in four of the contests to one. The Prairie Stars won three of the regular season contests and one of the postseason matchups in the GLVC Tournament.
