Danielle Dennis Named To Academic All-District Team

University of Illinois Springfield softball player Danielle Dennis was named to the CoSIDA NCAA Division II Academic All-District team on Thursday. She is the third softball player over the last two seasons to win that honor.
 
Dennis earned first-team all-region and first-team all-GLVC accolades this past season. She ranked in the top five in the conference in batting average, on-base percentage, hits, and doubles.
 
Dennis set a program-record with a .411 batting average and .643 slugging percentage, and had the second-best on-base percentage with a .490 mark. She recorded 29 runs, 53 hits, 15 doubles, five home runs, 29 RBI, and nine stolen bases.
 
In two seasons at UIS, Dennis is batting .397 with a .654 slugging percentage and .484 on-base percentage. In 62 games, she has 41 runs and 46 RBI, and has 20 doubles and eight home runs.
 
Dennis is one of four infielders, and one of 11 total players from the Midwest Region to earn the award. She is one of five players from the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) to capture the honor which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
