University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer player
Conal Gallagher was named the GLVC Offensive Player of the Week. He is the third UIS men's soccer athlete to earn a GLVC weekly award this year, including the first for feats on the offensive side of the field.
Â
Gallagher scored two goals last week to help UIS win a pair of one-goal games. In the contest against Southwest Baptist, his goal in the 69th minute broke a 1-1 tie and was the game-winner. Two days later against Rockhurst, UIS was trailing 1-0 until Gallagher scored in the 18th minute. The Prairie Stars would go on and win that game by a 2-1 margin.
Â
Gallagher is in his second year on the UIS roster. This season, he has a team-high five goals, and has one assist. He leads the GLVC and is eighth in NCAA Division II with four game-winning goals. For his career, Gallagher has six goals, three assists, and 15 points in 22 games.
Â
The UIS men's soccer team is having its best NCAA season this year. The Prairie Stars are currently 10-3-1 overall and 9-1-1 in GLVC play.
