The University of Illinois Springfield women's golf program won the UIS Spring Invitational on Saturday at Piper Glen Golf Club. It was the second straight tournament win for the team, and the third of the season.
 
UIS shot a 309 at the eight-team event, which was shortened after 18 holes. It won by 14 shots over GLVC rival Drury, and also defeated conference schools in Lewis, Truman State, and William Jewell.
 
Maria Espinosa tied for first in the individual standings with a three-over 76. She had 14 pars and one birdie in her round.
 
Jennifer Queller and Paula Valdivia tied for third overall after shooting 78 marks. Ocean Pangan tied for fifth with a score of 79. Rounding out the team's field was Charlotte Ng with an 88. Sasha Glickfield competed as an individual and shot an 88.
 
UIS will be in action again on April 26-28 at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, Ill. for the GLVC Championships.
