SPRINGFIELD, IL – The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) women's golf team secured fourth place in the two-day UIS Spring Invitational, which concluded on Sunday.

UIS put together a 36-hole score of 617, behind rounds of 307 and 310. The Prairie Stars are ranked No. 6 in the latest NCAA Division II East Regional rankings.

Brooke Hill tied for ninth with a tournament score of 152. The senior from Regina, Saskatchewan fired rounds of 73 and 79 on the par-72 layout at Panther Creek Country Club.

Maria Espinosa finished T-17 (77-77 – 154),
Jennifer Queller came in T-19 (78-77 – 155),
Ocean Pangan captured 23rd (79-78 – 157) and
Taryn Pittman tied for 24th (80-78 – 158) to round out UIS's scorers.

Sasha Glickfield,
Chelsey Witkowiak,
Charlotte Ng and
Jordan Neyens each competed as individuals. Glickfield (83-81 – 164) and Witkowiak (82-82 – 164) both earned T-35 finishes, Ng claimed a T-42 finish (86-83 – 169) claimed a T-42 finish and Neyens secured 47th (84-88 – 172). Glickfield (+20), Witkowiak (+20) and Neyens (+28) each achieved 36-hole season bests relative to par.

Fourth-ranked University of Findlay took four of the top-five spots. Meredith Wipper earned the individual crown with a tournament score of 142 behind a pair of 71s and a score of two under. Mackenzie Torres captured second with a 144, carding rounds of 70 and 74 for an even score. Samantha Hatter jumped to fourth (78-69 – 147) jumped to fourth after shooting a tournament-best round of 69 in Day 2. Kristina Kniesly locked up fifth (76-73 – 149)

Jane Hopkinson-Wood represented NCAA Division III power, Wittenburg University, by securing third with a 147, firing rounds of 72 and 73.

Findlay rolled to first with a team score of 581, finishing ahead of No. 3 University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) (600), Wittenburg (615), UIS (617), No. 10 University of Southern Indiana (618), Lewis University (636), Maryville University (654), McKendree University (657) and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' Lindenwood-Belleville University (810), which rounds out the team standings.

The Prairie Stars battle in the three-day Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championships, which begins next Friday at the Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, MO.
