BOURBONNAIS, IL --- The Prairie Stars placed seventh in the ten-team field at the Illinois Intercollegiate Championships, hosted by Olivet Nazarene. UIS was paced by
Krissy Finley, who placed 17
th in the 146-runner field.
Finley (19:33.6) took 17
th place in the 5K race and was followed closely by freshman
Lexi Throne (20:17.1) who placed 29
th in the scoring section and 46
th overall. Kelsey Clearly (20:26.1), "ran her best race to date as a Prairie Star", as quoted by head coach Mike DeWitt.
Lexi Yoggerst (20:48.5) finished just ahead of teammate
Olivia Rohr (20:50.6) while
Libby Price (20:52.8) and
Gloria Escarco (20:56.5) rounded out the field for the Prairie Stars.
"There were a lot of high-caliber teams in this race and I though we competed really well," added DeWitt. "Kelsey ran her best race to date and Krissy did a great job as our top finisher. We are really looking forward to next weekend when we get to face some of the best competition Division II has to offer."
Claire Eaton (21:09.5),
Alexandria Quarton (21:10.7), and
Abbie Lemley (22:01.7) all broke the 23-minute barrier while
Rachael Crowley (23:58.6) and
Hannah Roberts (24:21.4) rounded out the times for UIS.
The Prairie Stars will run again on October 7
th at the aforementioned Conference Crossover.
