SPRINGFIELD, IL --- The Prairie Stars (31-21, 17-11) will head to the Great Lakes Valley Conference championships at EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Illinois where they will begin post-season play on Thursday at noon against the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Illinois Springfield garnered the six-seed in the eight-team tournament after winning their final 11 games of the regular season.

This is the fourth time in program history that UIS qualified for the conference tournament, the last time coming in 2015 when they entered the tournament as a seven-seed. This is the second time in three seasons that UIS qualified for the conference tournament under head coach, Shannon Guthrie.

UIS will begin the championship on Thursday against #3 UMSL. These two teams met to begin the conference season on March 18^th and split their doubleheader in St. Louis. Then ranked #17 in the nation, UMSL won the first game 4-3 in ten innings before UIS came back with a 6-1 win in game two.
