Prairie Stars Begin Tough Road Trip at Missouri S&T/#13 Drury

SPRINGFIELD, IL --- The Prairie Stars will head on the road to begin a four-game road stretch where they will face three top-25 opponents, beginning with Missouri S&T (8-13, 3-10) and #13 Drury (20-3, 12-1). With five games remaining in the season, UIS will play four on the road, two against #17 Bellarmine and #20 Southern Indiana, who UIS has already battled against this year.

SETTING THE SCENE
Illinois Springfield (8-13, 2-11) currently sits in 7th place in the GLVC east and looks to battle for the final playoff spot in the GLVC tournament. This will undoubtedly be the toughest stretch of the year for the Prairie Stars, facing three top-25 opponents in a row, all on the road.

UIS is 2-6 in true road games this year but has dropped their last two after winning at McKendree on January 16th.

Missouri S&T (8-13, 3-10) comes into the weekend having lost three straight and 10 of their last 12 games. The Miners are currently 13th in the overall standings and will face four teams that are fighting for the final spot in their next four games.

#13 Drury (20-3, 12-1) is coming off their first loss in their last 13 games as well as their first loss in conference play. The Panthers fell 84-78 on the road to #20 Southern Indiana and beating #17 Bellarmine on their home court.

HOT HAND
Over the last three games, Destiny Ramsey has had the hot hand for the Prairie Stars, totaling 63 points in that span. The junior has connected on 29-of-42 shots from the field in that span, good for a 69 percent mark. She has also grabbed 19 rebounds including eight against UMSL and nine against Maryville.

CLOSE CALLS
UIS has played 11 games that have been decided by 10 points or less, going 2-9 in those games. The last three games --- against Lewis, UMSL, and Maryville --- all fit into that category, with UIS coming up short each time.

LUCKY NUMBER 70
When UIS reaches 70 points, they hold a 6-3 record, including a 3-0 mark when they reach 80 points. However, the Prairie Stars are 2-10 when they fail to reach the 70-point mark.

A LOOK AT THE RECORD BOOKS
Shelbi Patterson and Syerra Cunningham continue to move up the all-time scoring list. Patterson currently holds the 5th spot with 738 points while Cunningham has 737. Caroline Kelty sits 13th all-time with 540 points.

Patterson is second all-time with 232 assists while Cunningham leads in total rebounds at 688.

THE LAST TIME
UIS is just 1-11 all-time against Missouri S&T, falling in their last eight meetings. UIS last won on January 19th, 2012. Last season, UIS fell 64-43, which was their lowest scoring output of the season.

SCOUTING MISSOURI S&T
S&T looks to snap its three-game losing streak on Thursday night. In their last game, the Lady Miners nearly erased a 25-point deficit cutting it to five with 9:20 left in the fourth quarter but were unable to get closer than as 15th ranked Bellarmine took a 78-66 victory.

Maddie Raley led S&T with a career-high 20 points and made a career-high six three-pointers, two shy of the school record. Janie Arand added 19 points in the contest.

Arand continues to lead the ball club in scoring with 10.6 points a contest while Elsie Greenwood is dropping home 9.7 a game. Raley leads the ball club in three-point shooting making 42.3 percent of her attempts while Raetchel Gray is shooting 35 percent from downtown. Katey Brown leads the ball club in rebounding with 5.5 per game and Aricca Daye leads the club with 57 assists.

SCOUTING DRURY
