SPRINGFIELD, IL --- After the opening round of the NCAA Super Regional at Panther Creek, the Prairie Stars are in a tie for tenth in the 12-team field after shooting a team score of 333. All five players shot in the 80's, led by senior Rebecca Ramirez who tallied the low round of 80. Defending National and GLVC Champions Indianapolis lead the way after shooting a 296.
After the 80 from Ramirez,
Jocelyn Matsen and
Taryn Pittman each carded an 84 at Panther Creek while
Maria Espinosa and
Kayla Yn tallied an 85 and 86, respectively.
The 333 puts them in a tie for 10
th with Northwood and five strokes back of California (PA) and four strokes ahead of GLVC opponent William Jewell.
Ramirez sits in a tie for 25
th in the 66-player field and is just four strokes from breaking into the top-ten. The tournament has two rounds remaining and the Prairie Stars will tee-off of the tenth hole tomorrow beginning at 8:30 am.
