Women’s Golf Slip to 3rd After Two Rounds at GLVC Championships

WATERLOO, IL --- After their opening round of 310, the Prairie Stars dropped three strokes in the second round and fell into third place in the 14-team GLVC Championships, held at Annbriar in Waterloo, Illinois. UIS sits eight strokes behind UMSL for second place and 18 shots behind the leader, and defending GLVC champion, UIndy.

Kayla Yn, who was the medalist at the UIS Invite last weekend, bested her score yesterday by a stroke, firing a 76 on day two, putting her in eighth place. Maria Espinosa also shot her second straight round in the 70's, carding a 78 for a 154 two-day total, putting her in a tie for ninth.

Rebecca Ramirez followed her 78 yesterday with an 80 in the second round to sit in a tie for 17th while Taryn Pittman is in a tie for 29th after shaving four strokes off her score yesterday and carding a 79. Jocelyn Matsen rounded out the Prairie Stars today with an 84 and sits in a tie for 34th.

The 313 team score is the third best score of the season for UIS, behind the 310 yesterday and a 312 shot at the Start 2 Finish Classic in February.

The final round will commence at 8:00 am with teams ranked 7-14 going off of number 10 while the Prairie Stars and the other top-six teams will tee off of the first hole beginning at 8:18.
