Box Score UNIVERSITY PARK, IL --- The Prairie Stars picked up a non-conference win at Governor's State, taking down the NAIA opponent 95-89 for their first road victory of the year. Illinois Springfield is coming off a six-game home stand and now sit 4-4 on the young season.
Vince Walker hit 5-of-8 from deep and filled the stat sheet, collecting 24 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.
Though Walker hit five three's on the night, Steinberg led the way offensively with 25 points, hitting 11-of-14 from the charity stripe en route to his fifth double-double of the season as he had a team-high 15 rebounds as well.
UIS jumped out to a quick 9-3 lead as Walker and Steinberg traded baskets for the first nine points for UIS, capped by Walker's first three. Governor's State cut the lead to just two with 13:02 remaining in the half but a three from
Paxton Harmon pushed the lead back to five on the next possession.
Kaj Days converted on an old-fashioned three-point play to get the lead to eight with 12 minutes to go in the half.
With 3:56 to go in the half,
Eddie Longmeyer connected on a jumper to give UIS a 34-26 advantage but the Jaguars came right back with a 13-0 run in the next 2:21 to take a 39-34 lead. After leading for most of the half, UIS went into the break trailing 39-37 after scoring final three points.
UIS began the final 20 minutes with a run of their own, scoring 13 straight points after an initial bucket from the home team. During the run, Walker hit both of his three-point attempts while the Prairie Stars hit 4-of-5 from the field.

Kaj Days after Walker connected for his final three of the night.
In a game of runs, the Jaguars went on a 15-2 run over a three minute span to take an 80-78 lead with 3:49 remaining. The lead did not last long as
Lijah Donnelly took it to the hole for an easy layup to tie the game before Steinberg connected on two free throws to give UIS an 82-80 lead.
The game became tied once more at 84 before Walker converted his sixth three of the night, though this one the old fashioned way, giving the Prairie Stars their final lead of the night. Over the course of the final five minutes and 12 seconds,
UIS connected on their final 12 free throw attempts from four different players.
Longmeyer ended the night with 18 points, four rebounds, and five assists while Days added 16 points going nearly perfect from the floor, hitting 5-of-6 from the field and 6-of-7 from the line.
UIS improves to 4-4 on the season and will look to improve on that record on Sunday, December 11
th when they return home to face off against Kentucky Wesleyan for a 2:00 PM tip.
