PUERTO RICO --- The Prairie Stars concluded their fall season in Puerto Rico, hosting the UIS Island Invite at the Rio Mar Country Club – Ocean Course. Illinois Springfield took sixth in the eight team tournament, as
Brooke Hill led the way with a T15 finish for the Prairie Stars.
Hill opened the tournament with a nine-over 80 before cutting five strokes off her opening round score, closing the tournament with a three-over 75.
Jocelyn Matsen (78-80—158), fresh off her win at the Maryville Invite, finished T19 while
Maria Espinosa (79-80—159) took T21 in the 43 player field.
Kayla Yn (78-84—162) finished in 27
th place while
Taryn Pittman (84-82—166) took 31
st and rounded out the five scoring positions for UIS.
Sara Posada (84-79—163) finished T28 as an individual while
Chelsey Witkowiak (89-85—174) took 36
th and
Jordan Neyens (94-85—179) finished in 39
th.
Espinosa tied for the lead in the field with six birdies on the weekend while Matsen carded five birdies over the two rounds. Hill's 20 pars paced the Prairie Stars team over the 36-holes.
