Men’s Soccer to Face #1 Rockhurst on GLVC Road Trip

SPRINGFIELD, IL --- The Prairie Stars (5-7-1, 4-5-1) will head on the road to face William Jewell and #1 Rockhurst after taking care of their final non-conference game against Oakland City, winning 6-1. Illinois Springfield will take on William Jewell on Friday before taking on the top team in the nation in Rockhurst.

The Prairie Stars enter the weekend having won their last game 6-1 over Oakland City, but have not won a conference game since a 4-1 victory over Saint Joseph's on September 23rd. Illinois Springfield has dropped four of five conference games, all by one goal.

After winning their first two conference games of the season over Lewis and Wisconsin – Parkside, the Cardinals of William Jewell have dropped nine straight decisions, eight in conference play. Their last five games have been losses by at least two goals, surrendering 26 goals in their nine game losing streak.

Rockhurst comes into the weekend having won five straight games after a 1-1 tie with UMSL on September 23rd. The Hawks have surrendered just six goals on the season and haven't allowed more than one since the season opener.

COMING DOWN TO THE STRETCH
The Prairie Stars are looking for their first berth to the GLVC conference tournament and currently sit in ninth place, one spot out of the post-season. The two teams directly above UIS --- Quincy and Maryville --- both lost to UIS earlier in the season.

UIS still has matches against Southern Indiana (3rd), Bellarmine (10th), and McKendree (13th) left coming down the stretch.

CURRENT RANKINGS IN GLVC
UIS ranks sixth in the league in scoring average, notching 1.92 goals per game while ranking eighth in opposing goals, surrendering 1.31 goals per game. Their 0.61 scoring margin ranks sixth in the league.

Zachary Allevi and Jack Coombes each have five goals on the year, putting them in a tie for ninth in the league in total goals. In goal, Tommy Geile ranks eighth in goals against average (1.236), and save percentage (.758), and tenth in shutouts per game.

Rockhurst ranks first in the league in goals against, surrendering just six goals on the season opposed to 25 goals for.

COMING UP NEXT
The Prairie Stars will return home on October 21st to face Bellarmine University, which will serve as Senior Night. Kick-off is set for 5:00 pm as the women's team will play the night game. After Bellarmine, UIS will travel to Southern Indiana for a 2:30 kick-off on Sunday before concluding the regular season at home on Wednesday, October 26th against McKendree.
