UIS Turns Focus to Truman State for GLVC Action

SPRINGFIELD, IL --- After a tough loss to Quincy University, the Prairie Stars will turn their focus to Truman State Bulldogs as they close a two-game road swing in conference play. The University of Illinois Springfield (6-7, 0-4) will take on the Bulldogs (9-5, 3-1) who are winners of their last seven games as they look to recover from a tough conference loss.

QUICK HITS
  • UIS is 6-7 on the season and 0-4 in the GLVC after falling 93-82 to Quincy in their first conference game since December 5th.
  • This is the second game of a two-game conference road swing. The Prairie Stars will host both Rockhurst and William Jewell next week on Thursday and Saturday.
  • Jamall Millison leads the way with 13.1 points per game and Davi Austin is now averaging 10.6 points after a 25 point performance against Quincy.
  • Millison is now UIS' all-time leading scorer at the Division II level and currently has 908 career points.
  • Bill Walker returns for his second season with the Prairie Stars and has a 17-23 record.

ALL-TIME SERIES
The Prairie Stars hold a 1-2 record all-time against the Bulldogs, as the two teams have alternated wins. The first two games of the series were at Truman, with UIS winning the second of the two meetings. Last season, the Bulldogs came into Springfield and left with a 59-58 victory.

KEYS TO THE GAME
  • Truman State and UIS rank 15th and 16th in rebounding margin, respectively. Whoever can pull down the most rebounds should see the advantage tick their way.
  • The Prairie Stars defend the three at 35.2 percent, ranking 12th in the GLVC. The Bulldogs only shoot at a 35 percent mark, but have made the most three's (133) in the conference. Limiting the three point opportunities will be key for the Prairie Stars.
  • The Bulldogs rank 1st in the GLVC in turnover margin (+6.14) and assist/turnover ratio (1.46). UIS has to control the ball and force more turnovers, as they sit 4th in the conference in turnover margin (+3.00) while freshman point guard, Logan Gonce, is 4th in the nation in assist/turnover ratio (3.55).

INJURY UPDATE
Junior guard Mark Weems suffered an injury before the December 30th game against Governors State. After undergoing tests, Weems will miss the remainder of the 2015-16 as he looks to make a full recovery. Before the injury, Weems was averaging 5.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and one assist per game in 14.3 minutes of play.
